IN JESUS WE ARE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

The Bible says in 2Cor 5:17: "Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come." YES, the new has come. When we receive Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, the new has certainly come. We have gone from death to life - from darkness to light (John 5:24, 1John 3:14, 1Peter 2:9). And in verse 21 we can read: "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." In Jesus we have become the righteousness of God. This means that as long as we are in Christ (holding us near to Him and profess Him as Lord of our lives) we share His righteousness and. We ARE the righteousness of God in Him.

FAITH IN JESUS IS THE KEY
It is by faith in Jesus that this righteousness of God becomes ours. Romans 3:26 says: "... it was to prove at the present time that he himself is righteous and that he justifies him who has faith in Jesus."

WORKS DOES NOT HELP YOU

Ephesians 2:8-9 says: "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God -- not because of works, lest any man should boast."

SALVATION IS HIS WORK

2Cor. 5:18-19 says: "All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation." God took the initiative. Jesus took the penalty we should have had and reconciled us with God. Jesus mended mankind's broken relationship with God. It is up to us to accept the arm of God towards us. He accepts us in Jesus Christ. God looks at us through the blood of Jesus - cleansed and made righteous. Jesus is your righteousness!
